The 1242C002 is a genuine Canon toner. The powder is matched to the fuser and speed of these printers: sharp text, even solids, proper fusing from the first page, and a cartridge recognized immediately (levels shown, no error message).

The 1242C002 comes in the following colors, ordered separately as each one wears out: 1241C002 (cyan), 1240C002 (magenta), 1239C002 (yellow). On a color printer each color runs out at its own pace; replace only the empty one.

Installation
Tool-free replacement: open the cover, remove the used cartridge, take the new one out of its bag, rock it gently to distribute the toner, remove the protections, then insert until it clicks. The printer recognizes the cartridge. The used cartridge is recycled through the manufacturer's take-back program or your local collection.
Use and tips
The 1242C002 suits a lightly used printer (letters, a few documents a week): the cartridge (1,400 pages) lasts about 5 months at 300 pages per month and about 1 months at 1,000 pages per month.
Store the cartridge in its packaging, flat, away from light and humidity, and unpack it only when installing. At the "Low" alert, order: the printer keeps printing until the replace message. Genuine cartridges preserve the printer's warranty.
