Why choose the genuine Brother BU-800CL belt unit
The BU-800CL is the genuine belt unit of Brother HL-L9400 and MFC-L9600 color laser printers and all-in-ones. It receives the four colors laid down by the DR-821CL drum and transfers them onto the sheet in a single pass. Rated for about 100,000 pages, it is replaced far less often than the toners; a genuine belt avoids color misregistration, marks and jams.

The toner holds the powder, the DR-821CL drum (30,000 pages) lays it on the belt, and the BU-800CL belt transfers it onto the sheet. The belt lasts about 100,000 pages, i.e. several drums and many toners. The printer shows "Replace belt unit" at end of life; regular marks or color misregistration are the other sign.

Installation and maintenance
Tool-free replacement: open the front cover, remove the drum + toner assemblies, lift out the used belt by its handles, insert the new BU-800CL, put the assemblies back and close the cover; the printer resets the counter. Do not touch the belt surface. Used Brother parts can be returned free of charge through the Brother recycling program.
Use and tips
The BU-800CL belt (100,000 pages) is designed to last the life of most moderately used printers (over 8 years at 1,000 pages per month); replace it when "Replace belt unit" is displayed.
Keep the part in its packaging until installation and do not touch the belt surface. Color misregistration or regular marks across the full width indicate a worn belt; the printer resets the counter after replacement.
