Why choose the genuine Brother BWP-1D450-110 ribbon
The BWP-1D450-110 is a genuine Brother premium wax ribbon. Wax-based ink melts at low energy: the printhead runs cool, high speeds are possible and it is the most economical ribbon. It is meant for paper labels (uncoated or coated) in logistics, shipping and shelf labeling: sharp barcodes and legible text, for indoor use without heavy abrasion. The premium version brings higher ink density, better smudge resistance and a wider temperature setting range than the standard version. Genuine Brother ribbon certified for TD and TJ printheads: even ink layer, crease-free unwinding, antistatic backcoat that protects the head.
Wax, wax-resin or resin: which ribbon?
Wax for everyday paper labels at the lowest price, wax-resin for labels that will be handled or exposed to moisture, resin for synthetic media and harsh environments. Premium when density, speed or smudge resistance matter. All compositions come in 110 mm x 450 m: BWP-1D450-110 (wax premium), BWS-1D450-110 (wax standard), BSP-1D450-110 (wax-resin premium), BSS-1D450-110 (wax-resin standard), BRP-1D450-110 (resin premium), BRS-1D450-110 (resin standard). The ribbon must be at least as wide as the media; pick the width just above your labels to limit waste.
Printers compatible with the BWP-1D450-110
The BWP-1D450-110 (110 mm x 450 m) is intended for 6 Brother models (manufacturer list):
300 m rolls are for TD-4T desktop printers, 450 m and 600 m rolls for 4-inch TJ industrial printers, 154 mm rolls for 6-inch TJ printers. Check the exact reference of your printer, suffix included.
Length and yield
450 m of ribbon per roll, 8 rolls per box, 3600 m in total. In thermal transfer the ribbon advances with the media: one roll covers about 450 m of labels whatever the print coverage, for example about 6,081 labels 74 mm high or 3,000 labels of 150 mm (excluding gaps and ribbon-save mode depending on the model).
Installation
Open the cover, place the BWP-1D450-110 roll on the supply spindle and an empty core on the take-up spindle, route the ribbon under the printhead as shown in the printer guide (winding direction printed on the box), tension the ribbon and close. The printer recalibrates the media and detects the ribbon on the first job. Clean the printhead with isopropyl alcohol at every roll change and keep the ribbon in its box, away from dust and heat.
Usage and advice
The BWP-1D450-110 suits shipping, shelf, parcel and internal traceability labels on paper, printed in volume: it is the lowest cost per label. Pair it with BUS uncoated or BCS coated paper labels from the same range; avoid synthetic films and labels exposed to repeated rubbing, which need a wax-resin or resin ribbon.
Tips: store the boxes flat, between 5 and 35 °C, away from sunlight and dust, and use the rolls within a year. Match head temperature and speed to the ribbon + media pair (a wax ribbon prints faster and cooler than a resin ribbon); a pale or rubbing-off print points to a setting that is too low or unsuitable media, a dirty head or a creased ribbon. The box of 8 rolls covers several months of sustained printing; order the same ribbon for all printers on a line to unify the settings.
